Special Credit Card for Freelancers Introduced With Up to $5,000 Monthly Limit
Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan's current Prime Minister, recently launched the BOP Freelancer Segment and Credit Card with the intention of enhancing freelancers' access to financial resources and boosting Pakistan's capacity to bring in foreign currency.
A number of top officials, including the President and CEO of the Bank of Punjab (BOP), Zafar Masuda, were present for the occasion, which took place during a cheque distribution ceremony for participants of the Prime Minister's Youth Enterprise and Agricultural Loan Program (PMYB&ALS).
In the fiscal year 2022, Pakistan's total IT export remittances amounted to $2.616 billion. According to Masood, the country is home to over 3 million freelancers who contributed $400 million to the total.
He believes that the potential of freelancers is worth billions of dollars and that the new coder will help in unlocking this potential and generating economic progress. He also believes that the potential of freelancers is worth billions of dollars.
Under the terms of the programmer, independent contractors and IT professionals will have the opportunity to open Freelancer Digital Accounts in either Pakistani Rupees (PKR) or United States Dollars (USD).
These accounts will allow for the official receiving of international remittances in addition to expanded credit and debit limits of up to $5,000 per month and $30,000 per year respectively.
The BOP Freelancer Sector and Credit Card is a significant step towards increasing the economic potential of Pakistan and extending the reach of financial services to the country's independent contractors.
Freelancers in Pakistan are in a strong position to make a considerable contribution to the expansion of their nation's economy over the coming years, thanks to the support they receive from both the Pakistani government and the banking sector.
